Challenges
I've taken part in several specific "challenges" through bookcrossing. Challenges are shared endeavours where several bookcrossers get together to try to accomplish a specific task. That might be to read particular books, or it might be about releasing books - anything really with bookish theme.

I am currently taking part in the "Race to Three Million" registration challenge.  Since joining the challenge in late February 2006, I have registered about 2,000 books with bookcrossing in attempt to have 3,000,000 books registered by bookcrossing's 5th birthday on April 17th 2006.  Find out more about this challenge here.

I've also set my own personal challenge which is sort of bookcrossing related. A lovely bookcrosser introduced me to the joys of Katy Reichs, crime novelist, but sending me a copy of Monday Mourning.  I've decided to try to read all Kathy Reichs' books through bookcrossing - that is to obtain each book from a bookcrosser through trades, wild releases, bookcrossing zones or RABCKs - it doesn't matter how, just that the book comes from another bookcrosser and that it has already been registered with bookcrossing before I get my grubby little hands on it. So far, I've read
bullet Monday Mourning (as part of a bookring organised by Dododumpling)
bullet Grave Secrets (obtained through a swap with kelptokitty)
bullet Bare Bones (obtained through a swap with chickadix) (currently in progress)
